Below2°C is premised on the overwhelming consensus that we must not exceed two degrees Celsius of global warming. The Paris Agreement’s “central aim is to strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change by keeping a global temperature rise this century below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.” 2°C of warming is an important threshold. It will be the most meaningful number for decades to come. Holding warming well below two degrees Celsius is fast becoming the singular goal.

Humanity's success in overcoming climate change depends on key decisions being made in countries and communities around the world right now: urban development plans, infrastructure investments, policy choices, and a host of other issues being tackled by organisations and community groups every day. Human activities don't take place in a bubble – everything affects the world's climate. The most impactful climate policies are often practical solutions to improve public health, build stronger economies and enhance quality of life in ways that benefit everyone. Organisations that are already tackling these issues have a unique opportunity to advance climate action in tandem with their own mission.

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is a new global fund created to support the efforts of developing countries to respond to the challenge of climate change. GCF helps developing countries limit or reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adapt to climate change. It seeks to promote a paradigm shift to low-emission and climate-resilient development, taking into account the needs of nations that are particularly vulnerable to climate change impacts. It was set up by the 194 countries who are parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2010, as part of the Convention’s financial mechanism. It aims to deliver equal amounts of funding to mitigation and adaptation, while being guided by the Convention’s principles and provisions. When the Paris Agreement was reached in 2015, the Green Climate Fund was given an important role in serving the agreement and supporting the goal of keeping climate change well below 2 degrees Celsius. -

12 years—That's all the time humanity has left to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius, as the recent IPCC report makes clear. In the length of a dog’s life, we could be sealing our fate to face more than 2 degrees of warming, and Asia will bear the brunt of the devastation. But it’s not time to give up—we can still stop this. If we are going to avoid climate catastrophe and build a sustainable future, we have to slash our emissions by 45% before 2030. To do that, we need to speed up the shift to clean energy; we need to get smart with the way we create and consume; we need a circular economy. Most of all, we need your boldest, game-changing solutions to bend the trajectory of human development away from runaway climate change. Are you up to the challenge? -

Why Now? Our planet can't wait The evidence is overwhelming: climate change is an imminent threat, our food systems are increasingly stressed, and our lands, waters, and species are threatened like never before. If we don't act now, the viability of our planet and our quality of life – to say nothing of the health of our economy – face an existential threat. Unfortunately, the global community is falling far short of meeting this challenge. Currently, in the United States only three percent of philanthropy goes to environmental causes. On top of that, government funding for the environment is variable even in the best of times. The global community has an opportunity to take responsibility for the planet and drive positive change. -

We believe that when the buying stops, the killing can too. The illegal wildlife trade is a multi-billion dollar global industry largely driven by consumer demand in expanding economies. While most wildlife conservation groups focus on scientific studies and anti-poaching efforts, WildAid works to reduce global consumption of wildlife products and to increase local support for conservation efforts. We also work with governments and partners to protect fragile marine reserves from illegal fishing and shark finning, to enhance public and political will for anti-poaching efforts, and to reduce climate change impacts. -

We believe that human behaviour towards the earth's resources needs to change from that of commoditisation, towards understanding that each decision we make has a knock-on effect elsewhere. All too often our consumer actions are disconnected from their impact on the natural world, and it has become far too easy to ignore the consequences. We believe that everyone has the right to a safe and healthy environment, but this won't happen while profit is prioritised over people and planet. We each have a responsibility to educate ourselves, to interrogate our policy-makers, and to walk our talk when it comes to the food we eat, the clothes we buy, the way we travel, and the energy we use. -

The Evangelical Environmental Network (EEN) is a ministry that educates, inspires, and mobilizes Christians in their effort to care for God's creation, to be faithful stewards of God's provision, to get involved in regions of the United States and the World impacted by pollution, and to advocate for actions and policies that honor God and protect the environment. Founded in 1993, EEN's work is grounded in the Bible's teaching on the responsibility of God's people to "tend the garden" and in a desire to be faithful to Jesus Christ and to follow Him. EEN publishes materials to equip and inspire individuals, families, and churches; and seeks to educate and mobilize Christians to make a difference in their churches and communities, and to speak out on national and international policies that affect our ability to preach the Gospel, protect life, and care for God's Creation.
